Bulgarian railway employees mark their professional holiday on August 7

Photo: library

Bulgarian railway employees mark their professional holiday on August 7. Each year that day is marked on the first Sunday of August. That day was not chosen by accident. In the beginning of August 1888 the railway line for international transport Tsaribrod- Sofia -Belovo was opened. Meanwhile, the state authorities bought the private railway line Ruse-Varna. Thus, the Bulgarian State Railways were established. 30 railway employees working in the passenger and the fright service divisions of the Bulgarian State Railways will be awarded on occasion of the Day of the Railway Employees.
