German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has called on Europe to continue its support to the western Balkans despite the great number of problems that continue to affect the region.

This happened after the end of the annual summit of the countries of the region, which took place in Slovenia. A joint statement adopted at the meeting calls for further European integration, strengthening dialogue and refraining from rhetoric of nationalism and hatred.

Steinmeier's statements have made it clear that the Balkan conflicts of the past have not been completely overcome yet.
