The fifth session of the 44th Bulgarian National Assembly was opened with declarations of the parliamentary groups about their priorities. The Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of GERB Tsvetan Tsvetanov underlined that the session of the Bulgarian Parliament is opened in a moment when Bulgaria’s image in Europe improves. The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Group of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Kornelia Ninova demanded the resignation of the Bulgarian cabinet and announced that most of the MPs of the socialist party will stay outside the Parliament in order to meet with the Bulgarian citizens. In her words, the low incomes, poverty and corruption are the real threat to the country’s national security. “The ruling coalition proved that it cannot deal with these problems”, Kornelia Ninova said. The leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms Mustafa Karadayi noted that the government must bear the responsibility for the unprincipled ruling coalition. The leader of Volya party Veselin Mareshki told the MPs: “Perhaps I should greet you not only with the beginning of the new session of the Bulgarian National Assembly, but also with the start of the new election campaign”.
