Bulgaria has negotiated to buy an extra 140 million cubic meters of gas from non-Russian suppliers, this country’s Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova announced. Thanks to the contract signed with a Dutch company, the gas supply from the USA will cost less than what we have paid for gas until now, Minister Petkova said and added that this is a clear sign that the Bulgarian cabinet has been working towards diversification of gas supplies. Bulgaria received 90 million cubic meters of American natural gas in the second quarter of 2019 and is expected to receive another 50 million cubic meters in the third trimester of the year. The importer has announced that it will supply the Bulgarian gas market with nearly 500 cubic meters of gas in the next 5 years.
