Two patients lost their lives in an explosion of the Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment and Emergency Medicine Pirogov in Sofia. The blast and the fire that broke out in the internal diseases department are probably due to accident with oxygen bottle or malfunction of the system providing oxygen flow to the patients. Eight fire brigades and a rescue team which were immediately sent to the place of the incident managed to localize and extinguish the fire. Nearly 100 patients were evacuated from the hospital. The authorities launched investigation of the case.
