Bulgaria’s Prosecution must once again assert its independence- not in view of the interests of the Prosecutor’s Office, but for the Bulgarian citizens and society, Bulgaria’s Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev said before the beginning of the procedure for appointment of a new member of the Supreme Judicial Council from the prosecutors’ quota, BTA informs.

Interests of oligarchs are affected when there is functioning Prosecution. This is their response when their big interests are affected, Deputy Prosecutor General Daniela Masheva told BNT commenting the antigovernment protests, which are also demanding the resignation of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev. The Prosecutor’s Office is subjected to unprecedented pressure, Daniela Masheva said and added that Bulgaria’s Prosecution will answer the questions of the EP Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE).
