Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva will receive her counterpart from North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, on October 9th at his request, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry announced. The two diplomats will talk in private, followed by a plenary meeting.

This is the first visit of the new North Macedonian Foreign Minister abroad and it is symbolic that he is coming to Sofia.
The Zaharieva-Osmani talks are preparatory for the announced meeting of Prime Ministers Boyko Borissov and Zoran Zaev. The North Macedonian prime minister has already announced that his first visit abroad, after taking over as prime minister for the second time, would be in Bulgaria.
The talks aim at resolving historic disputes between Skopje and Sofia and speeding up North Macedonia's EU integration.
