North Macedonia must show tangible results in implementing the Good Neighborliness Agreement with Sofia, Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva told the German newspaper Die Welt.

There is even no railway connection between the two neighboring countries, Minister Zaharieva added. Pan-European Transport Corridor 8 should connect Albania, North Macedonia and Bulgaria, but there are huge delays. Investments amounting to EUR 130 million were lost in connection with this project. Skopje has not proposed any east-west infrastructure projects either. It also hinders Bulgarian investors. We have been waiting for one and a half years for an answer to our proposal for a joint program in the field of education and culture, Minister Zaharieva went on to say.
