Bulgaria's PM pays tribute to victims of communism

"Eternal memory of the victims of the communist regime!", wrote Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on Facebook on the occasion of the day of honoring the victims of Communism in Bulgaria marked on February 1.

"76 years ago, the so-called "People's Court ", which is neither a people's institution nor a court, marked the beginning of one of the darkest trials in our history. Unlawful, primitive and politically controlled, it physically annihilated a large part of Bulgaria's elite. Unfortunately, there are still voices that this criminal act was an act of "necessary and inevitable justice," Borissov points out.
"That is why I am glad that our efforts have yielded results and students in the 10th grade are already studying the history of communism in Bulgaria. Only objective knowledge of the past can give us the necessary lessons for the future," the prime minister stresses.
