The unique audio-visual show "Sound and Light" in the Balkans, and in Europe, which recreates important moments from Bulgarian history against the backdrop of the centuries-old remains of heroic eras in the old capital Veliko Tarnovo, is celebrating its 40th anniversary

On this occasion, a gala concert is being prepared for September 5, at which the sound and light show will be presented to the public for the first time with live music. The choir and orchestra of the State Opera - Ruse will participate in it, with the special participation of the famous kaval player Teodosii Spassov.

Under the baton of maestro Vladimir Boshnakov, fragments of the operas "Tsar Kaloyan" by Pancho Vladigerov, "Maria Desislava" by Parashkev Hadzhiev and "Ivailo" by composer Marin Goleminov will be performed, and the end of the concert will be the music of the Sound and Light show, which will accompany the visual spectacle. Teodosii Spasov will perform almost all the solo parts in the music.

The concert will be part of the opera festival "Stage of the Ages", which this year marks 40 years since the first open-air performances and 10 years since the festival became a large-scale seasonal event for Veliko Tarnovo.

"Together with the Ruse Philharmonic Orchestra, we will hold a concert in Veliko Tarnovo, where in the setting of these ancient fortresses the famous musical from the show "Sound and Light", which is a symbol of Veliko Tarnovo, will sound. Everything will take place on September 5. For me, this is very exciting, I have to cover several different parts on different instruments, transforming myself in register, with different timbres with my instrument," the world-famous kavaldist Theodosii Spasov shared with Radio Bulgaria.
