Penalties for speeding recorded by toll cameras to take effect on September 7

Photo: BTA-archive

Starting at midnight on September 7, section control for measuring average speed will be introduced on specific segments of the national road network. Cameras placed at the beginning and end of each section will record the time it takes for a vehicle to travel the distance, and the average speed will be calculated.

If the average speed of a vehicle exceeds the maximum allowed under the Road Traffic Act, the data will be forwarded by the National Toll Administration to the Ministry of the Interior, which will issue the appropriate penalties, according to the BGTOLL website.

Automated monitoring for overloaded freight vehicles is expected to be launched around mid-October.
