Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev met Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Mr Georgiev said that Bulgaria was keen to expand cooperation with Qatar in areas of mutual interest, including energy, the defence industry, and information and communications technology.
Referring to the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Georg Georgiev expressed confidence that this milestone would foster deeper political dialogue and strengthen the bilateral partnership. He thanked Qatar, and in particular the Emir, for their active role in securing the release of the crew of the Galaxy Leader ship, two of whom were Bulgarian citizens, as well as for their efforts relating to the two Bulgarians being held hostage by Hamas.
