The CSKA – Levski derby ended in a 0:0 draw

The football derby between the football teams of CSKA and Levski in the round of 16 of the Cup of Bulgaria tournament ended in a scoreless draw. Martin Petrov started the match as a striker for CSKA, but was replaced in the second half. CSKA played in its typical aggressive style, but the defense of Levski and goalkeeper Plamen Iliev did not let the ball get into the net. The blue players also had their opportunities to score, but ultimately the outcome of the derby will be seen in the rematch on December 19th.

The national youth football team of Bulgaria was successful in finding a place in the elite qualifying round of the 2014 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. In their last match of the preliminary round the Bulgarian players reached a 1-1 draw against Albania. This way Bulgaria also collected 5 points in the preliminary group and placed second. The team of Greece became first with 5 points, but a goal more.

The chess teams of Bulgaria ended with losses their last games in the European Team Chess Championship in Poland. In the last ninth round the men's team lost against the Netherlands (0.5:3.5 points) and placed 25th. The team of Azerbaijan won the tournament. In its last games the women's team of Bulgaria lost against Poland and ranked 15th in the final standings. Winner was the team of Ukraine.

Bulgarian sumo wrestler Daniel Ivanov - Aoiyama continues with his strong performance at the Sumo Tournament in Fukuoka, Japan. Aoiyama achieved his seventh victory in the eighth round against Sadanofudzhi. The Bulgarian currently holds the third place in the standings. Another Bulgarian sumo wrestler Kaloyan Kotooshu dropped out of the tournament because of an injury.

Bulgarian boxer Daniel Assenov won the gold in the 50-kg category at the European Junior Championships in Anapa, Russia. At the final Asenov won against Francis Patrick Cleary from Ireland. At the championship Bulgarian boxers won also 3 bronze medals. Third in the 48 –kg category became Emanuil Bogoev. Alexander Kalinov won bronze in the 70-kg category and Angel Angelov became third in the category over 80 kilograms.
