On 2 April, a concert at the National palace of Culture will bring together rock music fans and admirers of Bulgarian music written over the past 40 years. The occasion is the concert of The Foundation - a group formed by hugely popular native artists.
Kiril Marichkov of the Crickets band, Ivan Lechev of the FSB, Dobrin Vekilov aka Donny of Donny and Momchil duo, Slavcho Nikolov of BTR band and Venko Poromanski of Te band are the musicians who a year ago materialized their idea to revive the best Bulgarian rock songs in new arrangements. This is their first major gig since there are together as a formation. Not surprisingly, the audience has already given them the label a "supergroup". These five artists with their large professional stage experience give out all of their talent of instrumentalists and singers. In their setlist, the Foundation includes mostly compositions from the repertoire of the bands in which each of them basically performs as an instrumentalist.
Slavcho Nikolov says the audience will hear about 22 songs at tonight’s concert. Evidence of the huge interest to the musical event is the fact that tickets for the venue which accommodates more than 4,000 spectators have long been sold out. In late April, the formation will have a concert in Varna. In the autumn of last year the band wss on tour to the U.S. and Canada which was extremely successful as they now have an invitation to hold concerts overseas also in 2015.
