The birth-rate in Bulgaria continues to dwindle, Sega daily alarms. 1,006 babies less were born in the first trimester of 2015, as compared to the same period last year. The total number of the newly-born for the first quarter amounts to 14,622, data of the Bulgarian Ministry of Healthcare show. The birth-rate even declined in the country’s capital Sofia, where a total of 3,628 babies were born during the period, which was 134 less, as compared to the first three months of 2014.

Two gangs robbed EUR 500,000 from ATMs in Bulgaria, 24 Chassa daily informs on its first pages. According to this newspaper, four of the perpetrators are Sofia citizens, which are still wanted by the Police. A Moldova gang is also behind these criminal acts. Each month in 2014, there were at least two robbery attempts, which was twice more as compared to the previous year. Investigators collected data that the Moldova gang, which was arrested several weeks ago for 10 ATM attacks, stole over EUR 150,000, 24 Chassa daily further informs.

Psycho-therapeutist Orlin Baev claims in an interview for Novinar daily that the number of the psychological disorders has risen significantly in this country recently. In his words, panic attacks, depressions, communication fear and social anxiety, are the most common disorders in this country. The state of anxiety always starts during the person’s childhood and is linked with the upbringing of each child, the expert further notes.

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency conducted a total of 79 tests of genetically modified organisms in 2014, Sega daily informs. Traces of genetically modified organisms were found in 8 cases, but the quantities of GMO were within the permitted limits of 0.9%. That is why the producers are not obliged to provide this information on the food labels, the agency further notes.

The summer tourist season at the Bulgarian seacoast starts on Easter, Novinar daily informs on its first pages. The Bulgarian sea resorts have already welcomed their first tourists. Most of the visitors booked their holiday packages for the Easter holidays. Bulgarian volunteers have already started to clean the beaches along the country’s seacoast.
