Turkish fighter jets violate Greek airspace

The General Headquarters of Greece announced that 10 Turkish fighter jets have violated the Greek airspace 7 times in the northeastern, the central and the southeastern part of the Aegean Sea. The Greek territorial waters cover 6 sea miles around a total of 2,000 islands in the Aegean Sea, but Athens said it had the right to extend the borders to the internationally acknowledged standard of 12 sea miles. Turkey, however, does not recognize the Greek air space around the islands, which currently stretches to 10 sea miles. It believes that the Greek airspace must cover 6 sea miles only. That is why Turkish fighter jets often enter the Greek airspace.

Serbia demands Greece’s explanation on Minister Kotzias statement made in Pristina

Serbia requested Greece to provide an official explanation about the statement of Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Kotzias during his visit to Pristina regarding the country’s support to Kosovo’s membership in international organizations. Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic commented that the change of Athens’s stand with regard to Kosovo “would not be in line with the international law or the friendly relations between Serbia and Greece”. Minister Dacic did now provide a specific answer of a question whether Greece would recognize the independence of Kosovo, which has been so far recognized by over 100 countries, including Bulgaria.

Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency members to visit Belgrade

On occasion of the accident in Potocari where Serbia’s President Vucic was attacked during the official marking of the anniversary of the massacre in Srebrenica, Premier Alexander Vucic invited the three members of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency to visit Belgrade. All three members of the Bosnian Presidency have confirmed their visit to Serbia. Premier Vucic believes that the visit of the Bosnian Presidency members would help the countries to solve all issues through a direct dialogue, in the spirit of good neighborly relations and to the interest of the citizens of both countries.

 USA expects from Albania to make fast judicial reform

Deputy US Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said after the meeting in Tirana with Albanian President Bujar Nishani and Premier Edi Rama that she was assured by President Nishani and Premier Rama that Albania would speed up the reforms in the country’s judiciary system. Nuland assessed highly Albania’s commitment to fight extremism, calling Albania a leader in the fight against this new phenomenon in this region.

Macedonian Deputy Premier slaps journalist

Macedonia’s Deputy Premier Vladimir Peshevski who is believed to be one of the closest people to Premier Nikola Gruevski slapped several times journalist Sasho Ivanovski in the face after Mr Ivanovski asked him whether he was afraid of the establishment of the new specialized court which is to investigate corruption cases during the government of Nikola Gruevski. At the end of last week Ivanovski asked Premier Gruevski while passing nearby the central cemetery in Skopje whether he would thank the deceased, because thanks to their votes he was elected a Prime Minister. Premier Gruevski, however, bypassed Ivanovski without giving any answer.

Turkish woman becomes hero in social networks after shooting her husband

Twenty eight year-old Turkish woman Cilem Dogan became a national hero in the social networks after shooting her husband to death with 6 bullets, when she became again a subject of violence. She has been tortured and beaten for many years by her husband in their family home. When her husband tried to make her become a prostitute she took the gun which was hidden under his pillow and shot him to death. When she was detained by the police she was wearing a T-shirt which read: Dear Past, thanks for all the lessons! Dear Future, I am ready! I shot my husband, in order to keep my dignity and honor, Mrs Cilem claims.
