The tender for the selection of a drill ship that is to begin exploring for oil and gas in the deep waters of the Black Sea "Khan Asparuh" block has ended. This was announced by the "Total E & P Bulgaria" company that is operator of the project, in which partners are the French "Total," Austrian "OMV" and Spanish "Repsol". An agreement was signed for the use of American drill ship Noble Globetrotter II. This is the latest generation drilling ship with a dual multi-functional tower, which allows for the simultaneous carrying out of several operations and is also suitable for easy passage under the Bosphorus Bridge. Completed 3D-seismic study of the field provides encouraging results and experts hope for drilling not only significant quantities of gas, but also decent quantities of oil.
