Modern world is full of dangers and children are most vulnerable in the chaos of everyday life. The MyKi smart Bulgarian watch has been created with the purpose of protecting them from the dangers, helping their parents to be calm across the day.
The watch has a GPS transmitter and SIM card and can transmit position signals, being able at the same time to receive calls and text messages. Parents can contact their kid anytime, as far as they have a smartphone or computer. Kids might send a danger alarm via MyKi with a special SOS button which dials their parents at once, sending a message with the time and coordinates. The children can phone and receive calls only from numbers, set in advance by their relatives. The device has a step meter and a calculator for the calories burnt by the kid through the day. If MyKi is removed without the authorization of a grownup, an alarm sends a signal to the parents. The target group is 4 – 10 years, as kids are considered to be more careful afterwards and capable of using their own smartphones.
Dimitar Dimitrov – CEO of the producer company, tells us more on MyKi’s most attractive features:
“Two basic functions are used there. First come the calls that can be limited, but without losing the touch with your child at the same time. The so-called safety zone is the second most used feature – for instance, if the kid has to be at school in the period 8:00 – 12:00 am, such zone is created around the school and if the child leaves it, an alarm is sent.”
The price of the watch is affordable and it is offered by some mobile operators and online. The company considers the rent-a-watch option right now, for certain situations only, like mountain camps. That could prevent more serious accidents in the mountain, such as an avalanche. MyKi can show its exact location within a radius of 1 m. It also registers a speed of the child when higher than 50 km per hour – the highest speed allowed in the city.
The appliance’s weight is 40g only and the design is colorful and comfortable. Dimitar Dimitrov comments why it is a better option than the smartphone:
“Kids receive their first smartphones too early, with no restrictions at all. Thus they get endangered. They turn into zombies with no conversation abilities, away from the society. That is why we tried to invent a piece of appliance that is not for games, but for connection. It restricts unwanted calls or the visits to harmful webpages.”
MyKi has recently presented Bulgaria at a Las Vegas-held consumer exhibition. The CEO says it attracted great interest, despite the competition and purchase & distribution offers were received.
The idea on the smart device came after the successful implementation of another piece which helped people control their homes from a distance, even from abroad, saving electricity. The future projects of MyKi’s creators are also related to safety – this time of pets and elderly people.
