Education Minister Meglena Kuneva supports idea for burka ban in schools

Meeting with more than 400 teachers and principals from the southeastern regions of Haskovo, Kardzhali and Stara Zagora Bulgarian Minister of Education Meglena Kuneva discussed issues of pre-school and school education. The Education Minister supports the idea of Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov for a ban on wearing burkas in schools. “I think he is right. This is already a fact in France under a special law. I believe Bulgarians are a tolerant and open people, but there are situations in which we should carefully evaluate every step we make”, she commented.
