Eurostat data show that the unemployment rate in the EU was 8.9 percent in February 2016, stable compared to January 2016, and down from 9.7 percent in February 2015.
As opposed to the whole of the EU, in Bulgaria unemployment dropped to 7.4 percent in February, down from 7.6 percent in January and far below the 9.8 percent of the previous year (February 2015). This means the unemployment rate in Bulgaria has now reached its lowest level since September 2009.
