720 kilograms of drugs destroyed in Sofia

Seven hundred and twenty kilograms of narcotic substances were destroyed on Monday in the incinerator at Alexandrovska hospital in Sofia under the supervision of the Bulgarian Customs Agency. A total of 240 kilograms of heroin, 225 kilos of marijuana, 108 kilograms of amphetamine, 63 kilograms of Gamma-butyrolactone and 24 kilograms of opium confiscated under 851 criminal proceedings were burnt in the incinerator. The total value of the destroyed drugs measured in black market prices amounts to nearly EUR 95 million. Bulgaria’s Customs Agency destroyed a total of 35.8 tons of drugs in the past sixteen years.
