Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova: Our border is very long and does not tally with the number of people we have

“The big challenge is that our border is very long and does not tally with the number of people we have,” said Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova on the sidelines of the session of the Bulgarian National Assembly. In her words we must be wary of the pressure from smaller groups of migrants crossing the land border - in practically all cases, these crossings are organized by people traffickers. The Bulgarian Interior Minister added that the migration pressure had now abated compared to last year. In her words, however, provocations to the efforts of the authorities are possible with amateur videos of the capture of refugees along the country’s borders. “Manipulations with this aspect of national security are pretty dangerous,” she added.
