The average annual income per capita in Bulgaria in 2015 amounted to BGN 4,953 (EUR 2,532) and saw a 2.9% increase as compared to the previous year, the National Statistical Institute informs. Statistics also show that the total average annual income per household member increased two-fold over the past twelve years. The average income from wages and salaries per person was at BGN 2,726 (EUR 1,393) in 2015. The relative share of income from wages and salaries in the total income was at 55% and saw a 0.8% increase as compared to 2014. The social transfers (pensions, family allowances, social benefits, unemployment benefits and scholarships) were at BGN 1,455 per capita in 2015 (EUR 743) with pensions dominating among other social transfers.
