Pazardzhik (Central South Bulgaria) became the first Bulgarian town where wearing of burqas in public places was officially banned by the municipal council. The ban is backed by the argument that wearing of burqas in public places obstructs the identification of the people, which poses serious risk to the security of the local citizens.
