Hundreds of Bulgarians blocked on Greek islands due to nationwide strike

Many Bulgarians are blocked on several Greek islands as a result of the nationwide strike which takes place in Bulgaria’s southern neighbor, the press center of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs. Nearly ten busses with Bulgarian tourists are blocked on Corfu only and can not leave that island. Crisis headquarters were founded at the Bulgarian Embassy in Athens and at the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Thessaloniki. The Bulgarian Embassy discussed the situation with the Hellenic Ministry of Mercantile Marine. It became clear that the Greeks working in the marine transport may end the strike one day earlier than planned- on Sunday evening (May 8). Until then the only opportunity for the Bulgarian tourists to leave Greece is by plane, where possible.
