Bulgaria’s Agency Hail Suppression launched a total of 2,206 anti-hail rockets since the beginning of the active hail suppression season. Thus, 170,000 hectares of land, of which 100,000 hectares of arable land, were protected, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food announced. The agency fired anti-hail rockets against 239 cloud cells which crossed over the protected areas. The main conception during hail suppression is to reduce the size of the hailstones, so they can melt completely on their way to the ground.
