A two-day UN summit dedicated to humanitarian issues has opened in Istanbul. Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov also takes part in the forum. The summit is the first of its kind and includes some 170 member states of the UN. A total of 60 heads of states and prime ministers take part, it was reported. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also participates, while the EU delegation is led by European Commission Vice-President for Budget and Human Resources, Kristalina Georgieva. The goal of the forum is assessing the effectiveness of methods of providing humanitarian aid in cases of major humanitarian challenges. Providing help during humanitarian crises can not replace political solutions, Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov said in his speech.
