Seventy migrants from Afghanistan have attempted to cross illegally the Bulgarian-Greek border near Ilinden-Eksohi border checkpoint. The group was spotted by a Bulgarian border patrol just before crossing the state border. The patrol signaled immediately the Greek border authorities who kept the migrants on Greek territory. The Afghani migrants were probably accommodated at the refugee centers near Kavala and Drama. The group consisted of over 20 children. At the end of May this year nearly 100 nationals of Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan were detained on Bulgarian territory near Kulata border checkpoint in their attempt to cross that country after the closure of the Balkan Migrant Route through Macedonia.
