Northwestern Bulgaria to receive EU financing

Bulgaria’s Northwest region is to receive EUR 111 million under the Regions in Growth 2014-2020 Operational Programme. The money is to be used for investments in urban environment, urban transport, educational, social and cultural infrastructure, Bulgaria’s Minister of Reginal Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova said during the press-conference entitled Economic Development of Bulgaria’s Northwest Region. Minister Pavlova explained that the sum includes money allotted to energy efficiency programmes in smaller municipalities in that region. There is also additional financing to the tune of EUR 36 million which will be used for investment purposes as well. Minister Palvova specified that the Northwestern Bulgarian region is within the scope of all twelve programmes for territorial cooperation managed by the Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works with a total budget of half a billion Euro.
