While in Brussels taking part in the European Council, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has commented that “double standards in the European Union continue playing dirty tricks”, and has pointed to the attitude to Bulgaria and Romania’s accession to Schengen. "The European Parliament and the European Commission say yes and everybody agrees that Bulgaria and Romania have complied with all requirements, but all of a sudden one country says no and the issue is not being resolved for years”, the prime minister has said. Borissov has also voiced a stance that the EU is in need of change and that Brussels bureaucracy should be reduced.
