Migration pressure has marked a 30-percent decline, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Interior Ministry Georgi Kostov has announced. A total of 7009 persons who entered the country illegally have been detained for the first six months of the year. Last year for the same period there were 10,456 migrants detained. It is noteworthy that most of the detained migrants, or nearly 4080 people, were stopped while trying to leave the country. According to the Secretary General, there have been no specific threats registered, but still all possible measures to protect the Bulgarian border have been taken.

Today the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior mark their professional holiday. This year the ministry also celebrates 137 years since its establishment.
