In my view, the claims that there is no Radical Islam in Bulgaria are not true, Bulgaria’s Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov said during the discussion entitled Radical Islam-Threat at the National Security of Bulgaria. Sotir Tsatsarov voiced support towards the proposals for amendments to the country’s Criminal Code which would allow the authorities to combat that phenomenon. Radical Islam is not the only source of terrorism. Islam is not radical in general, Sotir Tsatsarov said. In his words, those who are trying to turn Islam into Radical Islam are pursuing different goals. In his view, the authorities have to make amendments to the Ecclesiastical Code, because the religions should not be registered only through court decisions, without the participation of the state and the Bulgarian Directorate on Ecclesiastical Matters.
