The Syrian who blew himself up in Ansbach, southern Germany, injuring 12 people, was facing deportation to Bulgaria, spokesman of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Tobias Plate, said as quoted by the Associated Press. „Currently, Syrians cannot be deported to Syria, but that doesn’t mean Syrians overall cannot be deported," the ministry said. The attacker from Ansbach, who is believed to be Syrian was due to be deported to Bulgaria, the spokesman added. He said also it was unclear why that did not happen. "Der Spiegel" writes that the Syrian was registered both in Bulgaria and Austria. "We have information about the case, but we are not going to comment on it at the moment,” Interior Ministry Chief Secretary Georgi Kostov said. If the man had been arrested on Bulgarian territory and he received status but did not comply with requirements, then according to the Dublin Regulation, such migrants are returned to the first EU country they entered, the Ministry said. The State Agency for Refugees has already started checking information reported earlier today by the German authorities.
