A European arrest warrant on Turkish citizen Faruk Bektas was issued. Bektas was charged with causing the death of two Bulgarian citizens in a car accident in Bulgaria on July 24. The Sofia City Court sentenced Faruk Bektas to house arrest. However, Bektas escaped from the authorities and left the country. As a result, many Bulgarian bikers held protests in front of the Sofia Court House and the Turkish Embassy in Sofia. The request of the prosecutor's office is based on the bilateral agreement for legal assistance between Bulgaria and Turkey.
