Bulgaria considering creation of joint patrols with Greece to combat illegal migration

Bulgarian Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova and Greek counterpart Nikolaos Kotzias have discussed migration processes and security issues during a working meeting in Sofia. The two ministers discussed the establishment of joint patrols to counter illegal migration, smuggling and crime in the Bulgarian-Greek border areas. Minister Bachvarova pointed out the Bulgarian position that EU - level negotiations should start immediately over the necessary measures that must be taken in order for the migration agreement between the EU and Turkey to become effective. It is crucial that readmission mechanisms become working, Bachvarova added.
