Ministers Bachvarova and Daniel Mitov pay visits to Slovakia and Austria related to migrant crisis

Bulgaria’s Minister of Interior Rumiana Bachvarova is paying a working visit to Austria related to the migrant crisis. Minister Bachvarova is to meet with her Austrian counterpart Wolfgang Sobotka and other representatives of the Austrian authorities, in order to discuss the asylum policy, the protection of the state borders and the fight against migrant smuggling. Meanwhile, Bulgaria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniel Mitov arrived in Bratislava where he and other EU Foreign Ministers will seek a common stand on Turkey. Turkey’s EU Affairs Minister Ömer Çelik is also expected to arrive in Bratislava. On Thursday he warned again that the migrant agreement with the EU will not be valid anymore if the EU does not abolish the visa regime for Turkish nationals by October this year.
