4.6 percent of Bulgarians are aged over 80

On 1 January 2015 people aged over 80 in Bulgarian numbered a little over 331,000 or around 4.6 percent of the population, a Eurostat analysis shows. In the space of ten years the number of Bulgarians aged over 80 has gone up by almost 87,000. According to National Statistical Institute forecasts in 50 years’ time the number of 80 to 99 year olds will have gone up by another 100,000.
