Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov held a phone conversation with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau. Premiers Borissov and Trudeau discussed the topic related to the abolition of the visa regime for Bulgarian citizens. The talk was at the initiative of Justin Trudeau. Premier Trudeau acquainted Boyko Borissov with the efforts of the Canadian cabinet aimed at lifting the visa regime for Bulgarian nationals and promised that by May 1, 2017, Bulgarian businessmen and Bulgarians who already visited Canada or have visas for the USA will be able to travel freely to Canada. Canada’s cabinet will make efforts to lift the visa requirements for all Bulgarian nationals by the end of 2017. The decision of the Canadian government is very important, because it is regarded as a step forward towards the abolishment of the US visas for Bulgarian citizens.
