Half of the annual income of every Bulgarian is returned to the treasury as a personal tax burden. This is what calculations of economists from the Institute for Market Economics show. Tax and social security burden of every working Bulgarian reaches 45 percent of what they earn working, experts say. Add municipal taxes to that and the percentage becomes close to 50%. The heaviest burden comes from insurance, VAT and excise duty.
