The Hong Kong flu virus is making an unexpectedly early start in the EU as well as in Bulgaria, Chief Health Inspector Dr. Angel Kunchev said. He added that it was a normal flu epidemic for the season, inasmuch as any epidemic caused by this virus can be called normal.
In some parts of Bulgaria the spread of the virus has already reached epidemic levels of over 200-220 per 10,000. Over the next 1-2 weeks the epidemiological situation is expected to be dynamic, spreading to more regions.
