Flu outbreaks will reach epidemic levels in several other Bulgarian districts in the next two weeks, Bulgaria’s Chief Health Inspector Dr Angel Kunchev said on Tuesday. Influenza will reach epidemic levels in all Bulgarian districts by end January, Dr Kunchev further pointed out. However, Angel Kunchev specified that epidemic levels will decrease rapidly after that period. Currently between 150,000 and 200,000 Bulgarians are affected by influenza. Over 90% of all cases in the recent days are caused by the Hong-Kong strain which affects mainly little children and people aged 65 and above.
