Malta is to work towards the improvement of Bulgaria’s access to the Schengen border systems for information exchange during its rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union, despite the unsolved problem related to the country’s accession to the Schengen Area, Maltese Minister of Interior Carmelo Abela told MEPs from the Legal Committee of the European Parliament. Currently, Bulgaria’s Police do not have full access to Schengen systems for information exchange regarding wanted people with criminal record in other EU countries, BNR correspondent in Brussels Nikola Miladinov reported.
