Today, the Bulgarian Orthodox church commemorates the feast of the presentation of the Lord or Candlemas, one of the 12 major feast days of the year.
It is one of four days honouring the Mother of God, so it also goes by the name of Winter Bogoroditsa (Mother of God). On Candlemas the church marks 40 days since the birth of Jesus Christ.
