More than 65,000 Bulgarians work in various fields of culture, which is about 2.3 per cent of total employment in the country. These are the latest figures from Eurostat for jobs in the field of culture in the EU in 2015, including journalists, writers, musicians, actors, artists, librarians, museum workers and other professionals in the cultural field.
According to this indicator, Bulgaria is at the same position as Portugal, while Romania is in the bottom of the list with 1.2 percent employment in the cultural field. The biggest percentage of people working in the sphere of culture is in Luxembourg - 4.4 percent, followed by Estonia, Sweden and Finland - 4 percent.
