The lack of electronic voting is not the biggest reason for concern at the forthcoming elections, spokesperson of the Central Election Commission Tsvetozar Tomov told the Bulgarian National Radio on Sunday on occasion of yesterday’s decision of CEC to cancel a tender for the delivery of voting machines to all polling stations in Bulgaria and abroad. According to latest amendments to Bulgaria’s Election Code, citizens can choose between paper ballots and voting machines on all elections. In Tsvetozar Tomov's words, however, there are other reasons which may turn into more serious occasions for the political parties to dispute the results of the forthcoming elections such as the electoral rolls which have not been cleared in the past 27 years. Moreover, the Bulgarian citizens living abroad are deprived of the preference voting option and do not have equal rights with their compatriots living in Bulgaria, which is also a reason for concern, Mr Tomov further notes.
