Nigerians control cocaine traffic through Bulgaria

A criminal group headed by Nigerian nationals controls the traffic of cocaine through Bulgaria to Western Europe, Stefan Bakalov from the Bulgarian Customs Agency told the Bulgarian National Radio on Wednesday. He pointed out that in the past few months the authorities seized 5 kilograms of cocaine at Sofia Airport. This is a fairly small quantity, but the multiple smuggling attempts prove that cocaine traffic through Bulgaria is controlled by a large criminal organization, Stefan Bakalov said. He added that the criminal groups have been attempting to import new types of synthetic drugs from China. In Stefan Bakalov’s words, the flights from Amsterdam are in the high-risk category, because the authorities intercepted attempts for traffic of amphetamine.
