The number of Bulgarians and Romanians living in Brussels has grown more than ten-fold in the period 2005 and 2016, according to local statistics. 11 400 Bulgarians live currently in the Belgian capital city and this is an 11-fold rise, the study shows.
The number of Romanians during the same period has increased 14 times to 37 700. A total of 411,075 foreign citizens live in Brussels (about 35 per cent of the population of the city). French are the most numerous (62 000), followed by Moroccans (38 000), Romanians, Poles (26 400) and Bulgarians.
