Scant information about two weeks of talks on forming a government between GERB and the United Patriots Coalition has attracted the attention of the Bulgarian press. "24 Hours" describes the situation under a title quoting the co-chairman of the Patriots, Valeri Simeonov, that there was convergence of positions with GERB, but distribution of offices in the new cabinet has not been discussed yet. Sega quotes the official statements of the negotiating parties that full agreement on the four sectors has been reached - security, energy, sports and tourism. The daily adds, however, that according to unofficial information the Patriots had appetites to head the ministries of energy and tourism.
According to Sega Daily, the key question whether the minimum pension should be sharply raised to 150 euro a month remained open. According to Trud, the Patriots have agreed for a minimum pension of 100 euro. Participants in the negotiations, however, have told "Trud" that GERB should not only accept this minimum, but also raise all other pensions. From its own sources, the daily also learned yesterday that tourism was a major topic of discussions a between the future coalition partners and GERB have accepted the call of patriots for establishing a separate committee in parliament dedicated to this sector.
Negotiations would now continue on the topics of education, social policy, economics and foreign policy. "Dnevnik" points out that GERB vowed to implement all topics agreed upon in the program of the new cabinet, while issues that cause disagreement will be voted in parliament according to the different views of the parties. It has already become clear that the government program will not include the introduction of majority voting system that GERB supports. Patriots are against this proposition but could agree to the introduction of some new elements similar to the German electoral system, he daily says. Sega points out that there was no risk that negotiations between the parties would stop.
