Bulgaria’s Maria Gabriel will become EU Commissioner in charge of digital economy and society. EC President Jean Claude Juncker held a discussion with Maria Gabriel who was nominated by the Bulgarian cabinet to become Bulgaria’s next EU Commissioner. Maria Gabriel is to replace former EU Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva. After the discussion Jean Claude Juncker confirmed Maria Gabriel's competence in line with Article 17 of the EU Treaty.
