The consumer price index in Bulgaria is down in May by 0.3 percent compared to April, when there was an increase of 0.7 percent, National Statistical Institute data indicate.
Inflation has dropped on a year-on-year basis by 2.3 percent (compared to May 2016); one month earlier it marked an increase of 2.6 percent, registering the highest growth rate since June 2013.
Data for May is the latest in a series of clear signs that during the current year the Bulgarian economy will be able to overcome the deflation or price stagnation, an ongoing process since August 2013, the National Statistical Institute predicts.
